Blackwater State School is a coeducational school that caters for students from Prep to Year 6 and is located approximately 200km west of Rockhampton. Blackwater Provisional School opened on 21 November 1877. It became a State School in 1909. Blackwater State School was opened in 1967, at this present site, as a result of the development of the coal mining industry in Blackwater. The school prides itself on a culture of collegial support and mutual respect.
The staff, students and community are extremely proud of our school. Blackwater State School offers a unique learning environment with a combination of small classes operating in large, open, air-conditioned classrooms. Our school grounds are well maintained and our beautiful outdoor areas are respected by all students.
