At Blackwater State School, we believe in fostering a well-rounded education that includes the spiritual and moral development of our students. We are committed to providing opportunities for students to explore ethical values, build a sense of community, and engage in thoughtful discussions about diverse faith traditions. Our Religious Instruction program is designed to support the personal development of students, helping them understand and appreciate a wide range of perspectives while promoting positive character development.

1. Program Overview
The Religious Instruction program is voluntary and operates in accordance with state regulations and our commitment to inclusivity. It is structured to help students explore key themes such as kindness, respect, responsibility, and empathy, which align with our core values of respect, responsibility, effort, and safety. This program provides students with a foundation to engage meaningfully with questions related to faith, morality, and ethics, fostering an open-minded and reflective approach to learning.

2. Content and Curriculum
The content of the Religious Instruction program is carefully curated to align with our school's educational standards and to respect the diversity within our student community. Topics covered include moral and ethical teachings, cultural traditions, and the role of religion in society. The program does not promote any specific religious doctrine, but rather aims to provide students with a broad understanding of various religious practices and beliefs from a global perspective.

3. Delivery and Instruction
Religious Instruction is delivered by qualified instructors who are experienced in engaging students in meaningful discussions on topics related to religion, ethics, and values. The program encourages students to ask questions, reflect on their own beliefs, and explore how different religions and philosophies influence the world around them. Instruction is non-denominational and conducted in a respectful manner, with an emphasis on creating an inclusive, positive, and supportive learning environment.

4. Integration with School Values
Religious Instruction is integrated within the broader framework of our values-based education. This program supports our school's emphasis on respect, responsibility, and personal growth. Students are encouraged to reflect on how the lessons from Religious Instruction can influence their relationships with others and guide their decision-making in everyday life. The program fosters an appreciation for diversity, kindness, and tolerance, helping to cultivate a strong and supportive school community.

5. Opting In and Out
Religious Instruction is offered on a voluntary basis, and we encourage parents and guardians to make informed decisions regarding their child's participation. Parents can indicate their consent at the time of enrolment for their child to take part in the program. If a parent prefers that their child not participate, alternative supervised activities will be provided during the Religious Instruction sessions.

At Blackwater State School, we are committed to supporting the holistic development of our students. Our Religious Instruction program plays an important role in helping students understand the values that shape our community and promoting the development of empathy, respect, and character.
